- 以去年发生在美国的“占领华尔街运动”（Occupy Wall Street Movement）相关新闻报道，以及产生的社会评价，检视美国报业所面临的困境与挑战，并指出新闻报道作为现代社会沟通的重要环节，既有新闻业制度化操作模式并不能有效因应突发社会事件的要求，另一方面，新兴的公民新闻学或公共新闻理论，也有其运作上的困境。新闻媒体作为社会制度的一部分，如果从媒介生态观点检视，芝加哥学派催生者帕克（Robert E Park）的理论，具有重要的参考价值。其中如新闻是促进沟通的关键，新闻鼻是新闻工作者的基本能力，新闻工作有其精神意义，都是历久而弥新的概念，也是现今新闻教育必须认真思考的重点。
